Epidural Steroid Injections, aka "ESI's" or "Epidurals"

*MORE INFO COMING SOON* Check back for more information on the following procedures, or request more information.

  • Neural ablation
  • Ganglion/Plexus Blocks - Including Trigeminal, Celiac, Hypogastric, Sympathetic and other blocks
  • Spinal Cord Stimulation
Epidural injections involve placing a needle under x-ray guidance into the epidural fat between the spinal cord and the back bone. This involves both a fast-onset but short-acting local anesthetic as well as a delayed-onset but longer-acting steroid (an anti-inflammatory medication). The medication spreads through the fat in a way that allows problems at more than one disc level to be treated at the same time.
Key Benefits
  • Effective relief for back or neck pain
  • Done under x-ray guidance for more accurate injection
  • Low side effect profile
  • May permanently relieve pain in some patients
  • May delay the need for back surgery for some patients
Sedation during procedure
Although not usually necessary, intravenous sedation can be used during the procedure to make you more comfortable if needed.

Repeat injections
If your pain returns after the first injection, you may need an additional injection. In this case, you and your physician may decide that on this and other options.
